Lord Mayor’s Multicultural Awards for Business

The Lord Mayor’s Multicultural Awards for Business celebrate the contribution multicultural businesses make to the Brisbane economy and community through their creativity, innovation and resilience.

Nominations are now open and will be accepted until 5pm, Thursday 13 April 2017. Award winners will be recognised at the 2017 Lord Mayor’s Multicultural Business Dinner on Saturday 27 May at City Hall.

JAEPA enters into force

The Japan-Australia Economic Partnership Agreement entered into force on 15 January 2015, opening new market opportunities with Australia’s second-largest trading partner.

The Japan-Australia Economic Partnership Agreement (JAEPA) delivers substantial benefits for the Australian economy, making it easier to do business with Japan, our second-largest trading partner. JAEPA is the most liberalising bilateral trade agreement that Japan has ever concluded, providing Australian exporters, importers, investors and producers a significant advantage over their international competitors.

JAEPA eliminates or reduces barriers to trade in goods between Japan and Australia. This benefits Australian businesses that seek to export Australian goods to Japan or want to import Japanese goods for sale in Australia or for use as inputs into further manufacturing.

2015 Asia Pacific Cities Summit – Brisbane

The Asia Pacific Cities Summit (APCS) and Mayors’ Forum is an event initiated by Brisbane City Council. It was first held in 1996 and has been held biennially since 1999, the venue alternating between the City of Brisbane and cities awarded to host the event in the Asia Pacific Region.

Recognised as the region’s leading business and government forum for managing cities and urban development, APCS provides a dynamic and interactive platform for participants to exchange knowledge, identify a common agenda, develop shared solutions, improve city governance across the Asia Pacific region and ensure sustained prosperity.

Now in its 10th summit, the 2015 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum (2015APCS) will be held in Brisbane on 5 – 8 July 2015.
